Update: 748 Stockings Stuffed for Our Troops!
This year the YMCA of Orange County collectively will send 748 stockings filled with goodies and thank you letters to troops overseas and state-side for the holidays. In conjunction with Words of Comfort, Hope and Promise, care packages are currently being delivered to the Commanding General serving in Afghanistan, who is serving with all branches of our military. Additionally, stockings were shipped to 3 Navy SEAL teams, and 3D Assault Amphibian, Alpha Company, an Army base in Georgia, wounded Marines and Sailors based at Camp Pendleton and Balboa Hospital, Marines based at 29 Palms, and the Marines of 3D Assault Amphibian Battalion for their Christmas party at Camp Pendleton. Any food items that the Y collected was given to a Marine family in need who is going through a tough time as their baby daughter is currently in the hospital.
Thank you to all who supported including those who donated, child care staff who arranged stuffing parties, our Y kids who wrote amazing letters and the branches that supported as a donation location.
We’re Sending Holiday Cheer to the Troops
The YMCA of Orange County will once again be partnering with Words of Comfort, Hope and Promise to send stuffed stockings and a piece of home to our military personnel serving overseas. Now through November 20th, we will be accepting donated items at our participating branch locations and Huntington Beach child care sites.
