Amazon has awarded the YMCA of Orange County a $35,000 Changemaker Grant. The Changemaker Program offers high school students (grades 9-12) the opportunity to propose a project that addresses a critical issue/need in their communities. This year our Y will be working with our Youth & Government (Y&G) students to create a proposal.
The Changemakers Project has already been presented to our two delegations participating in Y&G this year and we hope to receive at least 10 proposals. We will select one winning proposal by March 31st, and the two teen leaders who lead the winning project will then present their project at YMCA Youth Governors Conference in Washington, D.C. scheduled June 15th-17th. Three overall projects will receive $5,000 in funding to bring their project to life.
Congratulations to Bonifacio Santacruz, Senior Program Director, and the CYD team on receiving this grant! We cant wait to share what our students create.
